The wheelback double bow armchair shown is made of ash and has an elm seat. This traditional design from the Thames Valley, England dates to the early/mid-19th century. This armchair will combine perfectly with the wheelback side chair to make a full set of chairs.
maximum dimensions: 25″ x 23″ x 40 1/2″ (w x d x h)
This is a large and imposing armchair. The distinctive wheelback splat in the back lend the chair its name. The curved arm supports are typical of this style and along with the spat are classic English features.

The wheelback double bow shown has been made by James Mursell of The Windsor Workshop in Sussex, England.
James’ guiding principle when creating Windsor chairs is to make them as elegant as possible. This is achieved by removing all unnecessary wood from the chair. In addition each part is shaped to minimise its visual weight, where appropriate.
