Minimalist Comb Armchair - AO Plans

This armchair was designed to be paired with the minimalist comb side chair. The name is somewhat misleading as this is not a small chair, while the side chair is very compact. The example shown is made in ash with a cherry seat. The uniquely shaped seat is the most distinctive feature of the chair, with its crisp edges and smooth surface. The turnings are deliberately simple and contemporary.

Maximum dimensions: 26″ x 24″ x 41 1/2″ ( w x d x h )

The long spindles are distinctively separated by a gap in the centre for the spine and are connected together by the deeply bent crest. The arm is quite low at the back and broad in the hands to aid comfort. The spindles in this example are turned on a lathe, although the use of a rounding plane would also be recommended.
