While it is only a month or so since my last newsletter, I thought it was important to circulate new course dates as soon as possible, including for bar stools; and to give details of my first show of the year at RHS Wisley at the beginning of May – it would be great to see you there! Also, pictures of a prototype chair I have been playing around with!
Best wishes

Course Dates for the Remainder of 2024
There are still a few places available on two courses, in the first half of the year (13-17 May – Rocking Chair; and 10-14 June – Classic) and the website now shows dates through to the end of the year.
If you are familiar with the pattern of my courses you may wonder why there is no course in December. It’s not a mistake, but with my daughter getting married in that month, there is just no time to fit one in!
If you are interested in any course, please email me to check availability.
Pair of Bar Stools
The response to the bar stool in my previous newsletter was overwhelmingly positive and so I am offering a course, for each person to make a pair in 5 days: 23-27 September.
This will be ambitious, but perfectly possible! However, as there is so much more preparation (double the number of legs and much longer) I have to add a premium of £130 to cover the extra time and wood (2 seats and 8 legs each).
I have refined the design since I showed the prototype last time and can report that the final version is extremely comfortable and takes up a minimum amount of space.
Dimensions: height 945mm, width 490mm, depth 450mm
I will have the stool, along with all my other course chairs, at the Craft in Focus show at Wisley in May (see below).
Craft in Focus Craft Show at RHS Wisley: 2-6 May
I have been exhibiting at the show for the last ten years and I look forward to it every time! It is one of the very top shows of its kind in the country at a superb location. Not only do you have hundreds of superb crafts people to meet, but the gardens always look magnificent at the time of the year and the tulip displays are fabulous!
Please note that to smooth out the traffic into the site during the roadworks on the A3/M25 junction, you will need to book a time slot for your visit. You can stay as long as you like, once you arrive!
Reading Chair
I have been playing around with a new chair design! This will not be for a course, but purely for my own entertainment. The concept is to produce a very comfortable and relaxing chair for reading and watching TV. This is a prototype and there will be changes to the next version, but I am encouraged so far! There will be a soft roll across the top of the spindles to support one’s head and this will be key to the comfort. Further details in time……
