This two-day weekend course is an opportunity to make a comfortable four-legged stool in ash and tulipwood. It can be taken as a one-off course purely for the satisfaction of making this useful and attractive piece of furniture, or as an introduction to Windsor chairmaking.

Next course dates:
24/25 March 2012
29/30 September 2012

Many of the techniques used in making the stool are used in making chairs on the 5-day Introductory Course. Students will turn the legs on a lathe, shape the seat with travisher and spokehaves, assemble the stool and apply an attractive finish. Although some, or all, of the processes may be new to students, no previous experience is required and instruction and support will be given as necessary throughout the weekend.

The hours are as follows:

  • Saturday 0830 to 1800
  • Sunday 0830 to 1500

All materials and use of tools are included in the price of the course as well as generous food and refreshments during the day. Accommodation, if needed, is extra and an accommodation list is available elsewhere on the website.

The cost of the course is £200

To book a place, please contact James Mursell to check that a place is available. A deposit of £50 is required to make a booking (payable online or by cheque payable to The Windsor Workshop).
