James Mursell has been making Windsor chairs for the past 16 years and his range of chairs for sale includes both traditional and contemporary designs.

A Windsor chair is defined as having a solid seat, with the undercarriage inserted from below and the superstructure from above; there is no continuity between top and bottom. Within this definition the range of chairs that can be created in almost infinite.

James uses locally grown hardwoods and in particular ash from the Cowdray Estate in Midhurst, West Sussex. His chairs are made to the highest standard, using traditional green woodworking techniques and are completed with an easy to maintain oil and wax finish.
